The children in the purple room are four and five years old. Each day, children participate in centers including math, science, art, and language activities. Group activities include group stories, songs, counting, and calender times. There is also plenty of time designated for free-play throughout each day-- both outdoors and indoors. The children also go on weekly field trips in which groups alternate going to the senior citizens' children center and to the library. They also participate in a weekly exercise session called stretch-n-grow. Other outings include trips to a local pumpkin patch, the Recreation Center, Campus Lake, and the bowling alley (at the Student Center). The Children also enjoy attending the Klassics for Kids concerts at Altgeld Hall, whenever possible.
